The Story of Galatea Long ago, or so it seems, From the brute’s tusk I did extrude, Longing to break free. Of many hands I passed through Since my roots were ripped away. Had I the chance to live again? To a man, angry and distraught I was sold, an object of detestation And a canvas I became. Many days I was sharply walloped, Sanded and molded into form. Were the blows becoming less forceful? The hammer less firmly clasped, As the chisel became the angry man’s lips, His fingertips, more gentle to the touch. Eyes that were once full of hate Were now beading at me with compassion, And harsh curses became heartfelt prayers. A flood of warmth came upon me And breath came into my lungs and I gasp, Fearful of my sudden vulnerability. The man bows before me, my hand in his, Kissing it and shouting “Galatea! My love!”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
