Born November 12, 1866 Known as the “Father of the Nation” in the Republic of China (Roc) and forerunner of the democratic revolution in the people’s republic of China Played a key role in the overthrow of the last imperial dynasty of China (the Qing) Uniting figure in the post-Imperial China

Education At the age of 13, Sun went to live with his older brother in Honolulu He attended Iolani school where he learned fluent English and studied history, mathematics, and Christianity. Sun later returned to China, there he studied medicine and became a medical doctor at the Hong Kong college of Medicine

Christianity Sun Adopted Christianity and was baptized while in America. Sun Believed being chrisitan was a way of embracing "modern," or Western, knowledge and ideas.
