Wilson Jung 65133207 Development of Advertising Dating back to the advent of modern media and communications, advertising has always been at the first and foremost of each medium, becoming so integral to human society that it is considered an art form in itself now. Advertising is a collective term for public announcements, designed to promote the sales of specific commodities or services. These messages are disseminated through numerous and varied mediums, such as television, magazines, billboards, and radio. With the creation of modern television, the art of advertisements took on a whole new level, incorporating vastly different styles to attract the attention of people in order to endorse their products. With the creation of the information superhighway, or the internet, advertising has become a monster in itself. Today, advertising agencies spend 35 billion dollars a year, with fifty five percent of that being spent entirely on the US alone.
