The concept of photography was originally used as a means of depicting and revealing the truth. However, recently the art of photography was used to alter existing photographs to be used as a real event. The LA Times fired one of its employees and sent out a public apology because of false information reported in their newspaper. The employer had taken two photographs of the Iraq War and put them together creating a more dramatic picture. By doing so, he managed to create a front page picture that was sure to catch the reader’s attention. The photograph that he made was the combination of two that were less dramatic ones. In his first photograph, there was a group of Iraqis sitting in the sand listening while an American soldier talked and made a gesture consisting of his right hand sticking straight out as if to say “stop right there”. In the second photograph, the same people were included and the soldier was standing still keeping watch over the people while one man was in the middle of walking with his child in his arms.
