10/6/08 Jung Personality Descriptions o Jump across the stream for different reasons: challenge, fun, no point, no effort o We can look at this example and classify people by personality types o 2 categories: Introvert: a person who interacts with another (object) in a more passive way. Describes the quality of interaction with the object Extrovert: a person who interacts with the object in a more active way o It is the nature of human beings to classify. A psychological function of adapting to the world. How you take information in? we all have inclinations to one or the other o Personality types related to the crisis involving anima/animus. (Greek word for crisis means “judgment” We have both anima/animus in the same way we have both introverted and extroverted tendencies. o In middle age, that which was hidden becomes interesting. It is a part of us. They are all part of a person who wants to claim every part of himself and be balanced (individuate). Dreams were direct expression of the unconscious. It would be a meaningless conglomerate of the happenings of the day without that. o Prognosis: dreams can point a way of health o Jung as not just why did you have the dream, but also what is the dream for? o
