Adam Klagues Adam 1 Dr. Penglaze En-131-2 10-12-08 Becoming Part of the University In college, a new way of writing and interpreting the information you read is expected of you. This is a critical analysis of the work, and an attention to detail. It is also important that when it comes time to write a response to a work you have read, that you do so as a teacher, and not as someone who has a limited understanding of the subject. Rose states, when referring to a specific student, “She had an idea about how college writing should sound, and she was trying to approximate her assumptions” (Rose, 171). Rose describes how she knew that college writing was different, but she couldn’t quite grasp it, and instead, she made remedial mistakes. However, Rose recognizes, after talking to her, what her goals really were and viewed this as a growing experience. Bartholomae agrees saying, “The ability to imagine privilege enabled writing” (Bartholomae). Bartholomae knows that almost all
