Cja 334 Discussion Explain the accuracy of the proposal The main purpose of a research proposal is to show that the problem that the researcher propose to investigate is significant enough to warrant the investigation, the method he/she plans to use is suitable and feasible, and the results are likely to prove fruitful and will make an original contribution. A research proposal is similar in a number of ways to a project proposal; however, a research proposal addresses a particular project: academic or scientific research ( Krathwohl, 1988). The forms and procedures for such research are well defined by the field of study, so guidelines for research proposals are generally more exacting than less formal project proposals. Research proposals contain extensive literature reviews and must offer convincing support of need for the research study being proposed ( Chamberlain, 1965).
