Jacqueline J. TeetMay 25, 2017Page 1Meteorology and ClimatologyClimatologist and meteorologist are atmospheric scientists. They study weather patterns and the effects on humans and the environment. There is an important difference, which relates to time horizons. Meteorologist are focused on short-term weather conditions and climatologists are more concerned with the long-term climate conditions. Global warming has recently been a source of dispute between climatologistand meteorologists. Climatologist and meteorologist equally use radar, satellite data, and sophisticated computer models when studying atmospheric conditions. Per the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics there are two types of meteorologist: broadcast meteorologist, they prepare and deliver weather forecasts through radio and television news programs. The other type is research meteorologist they commonly work for government agencies, and colleges. They collect and evaluate weather data to produceforecasts. Climatologist are known as climate scientists.
