105852335 1 105852335 T. Slankard WRT 102.37 07 May 2007 Me, a Writer? I haven’t enjoyed writing since I was a child. I remember I used to write silly stories about bears and about someone named “Funny Face.” Then I got to school, and learned about writing; it became all about grammar and structure and never-ending rules. In middle school, we were taught the absurd 5 paragraph essay, in which the introduction would always start off with one of the following: a narration, an anecdote, a statistic, a definition, or a quotation or question (otherwise known as NASD[a]Q). I understand that when we’re younger, we need to learn structure and simple things that are later used as bases to build upon, but once I got to high school, I was stuck in a rut. Freshman year in high school, they told us to forget everything we had learned in middle school. NASDQ and the 5 paragraph essay were garbage. Then they told us to write essays on whatever subject we liked. I, however, did not like this. I was used to being told what to do – what to write about, and how to write it.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
