Chapter sixteen first introduces us to the U.S.N.W.M.O (United States Nations World
Meteorological Organization).
This organization consists of 185 different countries who are
responsible for monitoring observations and satellites.
The chapter discusses computer models
which are the main tools to predict climate change.
One that is given some attention is the
Hadley Center for Climate Prediction and Research.
Nathan Gillet has discovered how global
warming is altering sea level pressure, which is irrefutable evidence that greenhouse gasses are
directly affecting a meteorological factor other than temperature, which has been the topic of
much debate this past decade.
Chapter seventeen talks about a “physical commitment to climate change.”
Flanery says
that if it’s any generation that is responsible for irresponsible energy consumption it is the baby
boomer generation. To put things into perspective: “half of the energy generated since the
Industrial Revolution has been consumed in just the last twenty years.” Our commitment is to
