Growth, Environment and Efficiency: California’s Water  Future 02/04/2008 11:10:00 Each year in California there is about 100 million acre feed in water falls in  California as water (usable amount of water)… about as much water as two families of  4.5 people they will use a year 70 million runs down in streams in rivers total water use is about 43 million  55-60% of water can be used for some purpose total agriculture use is 34.3 (typical of arid regions around the world) irrigated acreage has remained remarkably constant, 9.5 million agricultural water usage through 2030 three trends that bare a lot of attention: o 1) population growth… California has been growing very rapidly since  ww2 o 2) increase concern for the environment.. especially endangered  species o 3) climate change
