Answers to Membranes ICPs After fusion, incubate cells at various temperatures. Add antibodies after 40 min. Describe what happened in this experiment. At temperatures 15 ° C there was essentially no mixing of H2 and HLA proteins, meaning the proteins did not diffuse in the membrane. Between 15 ° and 25 ° C there was a change in the membrane so that 35 ° there was complete diffusion of proteins from one side to the other in all heterokaryon cells. Correcting common errors The cells did not mix; integral membrane proteins mixed. Just saying mixing did not occur below 15° is insufficient. You need to point out that the proteins move from one side to the other, at least by saying that the proteins mixed together or didn’t. Proteins didn’t diffuse through the cell, they diffused in the membrane. We’re not looking at diffusion or movement across
