RR #9: Devil’s Highway
Conclusion:
The Border Patrol are highly skilled and trained to track down illegal
immigrants coming into the country/crossing the boarder.
Reasons:
1.
They have a system where every single day they smooth the sand out with trucks
so they can see any footsteps if illegal immigrants cross the border.
2.
They are aware of “foamers” which are people who walk across the desert with
blocks of foam rubber to their feet thus leaving no footprints in the sand.
However, what the crossers don’t understand is that the border patrol men are
trained to analyze the prints in the sand and can tell when a foamer has crossed
because the foam blocks make small right-angle dents in the soil at their corners.
3.
The Border Patrol knows basically all the tricks that the illegal immigrants try to
successfully cross.
For example, the Patrol is aware that the last man through the
sand walks backward and brushes the tracks away with a branch.
