Topic 10 1. Discuss the events in Dayr Yasin, reasons and results. EVENTS: I. April 9, 1948: several Jewish armed factions (Irgun & Stern) seized and occupied the Arab town Dayr Yasin. a. Brutal attack where young women and children were killed, women were believed to be raped. REASONS: II. Political project, not based on hate. Were trying to scare Arabs to leave. RESULTS: III. Dayr Yasin became an ideological bait in the propaganda war between Israel and Arab states. a. Irgun & Stern scared 300,000 Arabs who left out of fear. 2. Briefly discuss the 1967 war, its reasons and results. 3. Analyze the reasons for the PLO/Israeli peace talks in the early 1990’s. Pay attention to the reasons for each side to begin the talks. I.
