Introduction All the world views have had some type of influence on society in their own rights. However, postmodernism has had a major impact on so many areas of various cultures. This world view describes a movement that erupted in the later part of the twentieth century influencing various disciplines. It has impacted such areas as the arts, philosophy, religion, and architecture. The rise of postmodernism was a movement away from modernism. In addition, postmodernism gave rise to much skepticism because there was no consistent logic in area it influenced. As a matter of fact, William Grassie stated that “Postmodernism and its philosophic cousin deconstruction are often misunderstood by their detractors and overstated by their proponents.” 1 Because of this confusion, other disciplines and critics began to question its validity and its claim to superiority. One such discipline/worldview that posed questions to the validity and superiority of postmodernism is Christianity. In this paper, the Christian worldview will be shown to be more superior in its belief system than the postmodern worldview. Summary of Postmodernism Postmodernism is the worldview that seems to overshadow all of society. This belief system greatly holds strongly to the following: authenticity, relativity, altruism, spirituality, environmentalism, the arts, pluralism, community, globality, the experimental, and holism. With the rise and predominance of postmodernism, many theologians and researchers in various disciplines believe society is moving away from modern values such as veneered reciprocity, ____________________________ 1 Grassie, William. “Postmodernism: What One Needs To Know .” Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science 32 (March 1997), 83. 1

rationalism, individualism, and dogmatism. 2 From various studies, “it has been classified and documented not only by Christian sources, but also by secular sources that the philosophy that most reflects the current continuum of history in the secular world is postmodernism.” 3 The hidden supposition that highlights this worldview is its assertion that there is no absolute truth. However, the statement ‘there is no absolute truth’ is in fact an absolute statement.” 4 Therefore, this worldview has an underlying opposition at its very core.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
