Alexander Calder KPE 344/Abbott Homework Assignment #4 Giants' Burress suspended for rules violation AP Sports REACTION: I’m sure where to place blame in this case. On one hand you have a superstar player in Plaxico Burress, a man who didn’t miss a game last season; although he sustained an ankle injury throughout. On the other hand you have an organization the just won a Super Bowl, lost it’s starting TE, has lost three key Defensive players, and just paid Burress 35 million dollars to stay with the team. The team reported that Burress missed practice and did not notify team officials of his inability to report to team activities. Burress’ agent responded by say his client: “had an undisclosed family emergency on Monday”

Unformatted text preview: Burress is a team leader and the teams best WR. His play on the field has led the Giants to last years Super Bowl win, and a 3-0 record to start the season. The team aspect comes in to play with this situation. You put your team first, and you’re self second. BUT as Walt himself said, Family is the most important thing in life. Then again, every professional athlete has a cell phone. All Burress had to do was make a phone call to the coach, or anybody within the Giants organization, and he would have been o.k. Now he faces a suspension, lost of respect from his team, and loss of salary totaling: “$235,294.12 of his $2 million annual base salary.”...
