The media has been said to be one of the most influential mechanisms of our time. If we examine our lives at this moment we can find evidence of how we are shaped and moved by the media. The media is everywhere and in everyone’s faces. Its power and its reach are tremendous. That is why one must always be cautious when viewing the media. We must be aware of the manipulation that is going on and how it affects us. Most of all we must understand whether or not the intent is right or wrong. As said earlier one of the reasons why the media has so much strength is because it is everywhere. Quantity and numbers are usually always a good measure for force. However, all that considered, the magnitude of the media is not its most powerful tool for influence. The media’s most powerful weapon is its ability to evoke emotion. Ron Kovic is an example of how one became a victim to the emotions stirred by the media. Throughout his childhood Kovic was surrounded by powerful portrayals of patriotism through his experiences with the media and his life. He was many times
