1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The question of what initially begin as a governmental or legal has now become a business pre requisite and priority to stand ahead in a competitive market. It is found that companies spend an estimate of eight billion dollars annually solely on diversity training. Organizations also invest their time and efforts in other diversity related measures. Some of the chief being assigning a diversity management team to the organization, employee and workplace programs, flexible work timings, domestic partner benefits, corporate sponsored affinity programs and other initiatives meant to attract diverse workforce. Organizations are now being more focused on diversity related initiatives for maximum financial growth.

3 CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Diversity is a term which is steadily impacted by changes in the society and demography. It a characteristic which differentiates one individual from other work colleagues. Workplaces are culturally rich with people hailing from different races, locations, religions etc. It is the responsibility of every organization to have work practices in place which respect this diversity and create an atmosphere which is beneficial for the company. According to Thite et al. (2012), the success of a company, operating globally depends highly on the interaction between national and organizational culture. Companies provide diversity training and leadership modeling behavior to help employees live together with mutual respect and consideration without regards to culture, work style or ethnicity. A unified work force results in a productive workplace and helps in organizational success. Diversity Management also helps in building reputation for the company and attracts employees from different demographic locations and fields thus increasing the professional and business value of an organization. Good reputation is built depending on how you treat your employees and embrace their differences and also teach them to live and work together in peace and harmony. An organization that gets this principle right can reap numerous business benefits as the days come.

Diversity entails so many different factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, personality, cognitive style, tenure, organizational function, background, and much more.
