Final Essay1.The national birthday, Independence Day which is celebrated on July 4, could date back to the crucial historical event in 1776. More than a year after the bitter revolutionary war, patriotsin Continental Congress finally made an critical decision, adoption of the Declaration of Independence, officially declaring the thirteen colonies were independence from Great Britain.The declaration of Independence was written to justify the Continental congress movement during revolutionary war. Series of deprivation on colonies have sparked the war between American colonies and the Great Britain. Patriots urged to seek a better explanation to rationalize their revolt and present to the world why they were pursuing independence. The theory of John Locke was chosen to interpret the concept of “Overthrown government if it no longer function appropriately”. Along with the theories and influential contents which is mainly drafted by Thomas Jefferson, not only the British King George III saw the jeopardy to his empirebut the whole world felt the determination of the American people.Document of Declaration of Independence could divide into four different parts, introduction, theoretical explanation, historical explanation, and the conclusion. In the introduction, concept of natural law was stated as long as the acknowledgment of such independence need to be reasonable. Theoretical explanation involved the concept of the product of enlightenment movement,the Locke’s theory. It is the first time ever that the abstract and theoretical Locke idea was practiced into the real world test. First of all, the equality of human was written. The well-known quote “All men are created equal” was stated in this section. In addition, the “Natural right” was written as well in this section. Humans are born with inalienable rights from the God, not the king among them. Human have rights to pursue the happiness. Additionally, social contract was involved in this section. the original theory of Natural Rights had some shortcomings. There was no limitation and restraint on human liberty. According to Thomas Hoff, humans are initially gross and greedy which the total freedom would lead to the catastrophic consequence on societies. Hence, John Locke came out with the result that mutual binding agreement must be obeyed between governed and governor. Namely, if people agree to live in civil society, they must live under the law.
