A process by which people organize and interpret their sensory impressions to give meaning totheir environment is called perception. The factors that contribute to creating our perception areour memories, experience, beliefs, values, people, places, situations, and time. Out of all thesefactors beliefs and experiences are the two which are mainly responsible for influencingperception both in the positive and negative way. If we consider the negative side here, there arecertain factors that limit and distort perception. Moreover they lead to bias. In short, we can saythe lack of perceptual learning which is based on the past experiences or the special training weget. In most of the cases every person fails to learn to focus some sensory inputs and to avoidothers. As a result it limits our perception. For example, a person who has not got training insome occupation like auditing or other skilled jobs cannot perform better than other trainedpeople (McShane 2015). Even in some cases he can’t succeed at all which ultimately distort theperception. Even Motive and needs are important factors that need to match with situation andtopic. For instance, if a hungry person is motivated to recognize only the food items among otherarticles, then his attention cannot be directed towards other things until his motive is satisfied. Thus it restricts one’s perception. Due to these types of limitations, individuals fail to achievetheir potential and organizations lose opportunities to gain success and welfare for itself. It isessential for both the individual and organization to take initiative to overcome the limitation. Inthat case they can apply certain ways such as being able to make an active choice which will leadto changes for the improvement of future. Individuals should never let anyone make him believethat their options and potential are limited. This will work quite well against the limitations. Andthey should never stop because of a failure or a loss at a certain moment. And most important isthe belief in thyself. Options can be limited but the belief in thyself will take anybody towardsthe door of success. These will primarily help the individual and organisations overcome thehurdles. What we perceive can be substantially different from objective reality. People’s behavior is basedon their perception of what reality is, not on reality itself. A number of factors operate to limitand distort perception. Decision makers engage in bounded rationality but they also allowsystematic biases & errors to creep into their judgments. accurate judgment. It’s been said that no problem in judgment and decision making is moreprevalent and more potentially catastrophe than overconfidence bias (McGinnis 2008).
