Phong Huynh West Civilizations Extra Credit *In my American Literature class, we just finished studying Edgar Allen Poe. One of the short stories we read was called the “Masque of Red Death”. The story has a plague that kills everyone at a party. Many people believe that Poe is actually referring to the Black Plague though the outbreak that kills the people is never actually mentioned. *In a recent airing of “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren”, they were debating about gay rights. One of the debaters made a comment about Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica . He said, “Nothing has changed since medieval times. Aquinas had it right long ago. Homosexuality is a sin against nature.” *I’m ashamed, but one of my favorite movies of all time is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In the movie, they retrieve a relic called the “Holy Grenade of Antioch” which is a humorous/blasphemic spoof on the Holy Spear of Antioch. The Holy Spear of Antioch is presumably the spear that was used to pierce Christ while he was on the cross.
