Do you think that groups of people who already knew each other would demonstrate more or less conformity if placed in these experimental situations? What if the teachers were men and the learners were women? Would teenagers conform the same as adults?I believe that primary groups of people will conform to whatever their group values. Since primary groups of people have a lasting and personal relationship they may be less likely to conform since they are surrounded by peers that they trust [Mac15]. The book gives an example of your family being the most influential primary group, and I think that if you took and put a family in this situation they would not agree to shock a person even if they believed it would not kill the person[Mac15].If the teachers were men and the learners were women I think it would be dependent onthe personalities of these individuals and the relationships they share. If the group has no personal ties, but is working towards a goal I think you may find some individuals that just want to accomplish the tasks at hand. While some of the more skeptical members may not be willing to move forward without proof that they are not harming someone. I have confidence that same stands true for teenagers and adults. I think that you wouldhave to look at the individual personalities within the group again. I believe that in this day and age group think is not as common anymore. More people are willing to stand out and be different instead of attempting to fit in with their group members norms. How could sexuality play a part in social inequality? Personally, I believe sexuality is an individual journey of one’s own sexual feelings. In the United States, our melting pot of cultures brings some people here with very strict notions of sex, while others learn to embrace the openness of our society [Mac15]. Prior to the sexual revolution sex was not about feeling good, but making children. “The roaring 20’s” allowed young people the freedom to enjoy sex [Mac15]. Also, in my own opinion
