Conflict (Chapter 9) Levels of organizational conflict Interpersonal : (between tow People) Individual members of the organization perceive goal incompatibility (don’t have same goal) Intergroup : (between tow different groups) aggregates of people with in an organization as parties in the conflict Interorganizational : (between tow organizations) Disputes between two or more organizations Phases of organizational conflict Latent : (exist) Conflict exists because parties are interaction in interdependent relationships in which incompatible goals are possible. Perceived : (notice) one or more parties perceive that their situation is characterized by incompatibility and interdependence. Felt : (what I am going to say) Parties begin to personalize perceived conflict by focusing one the conflict by focusing on the conflict issue and planning conflict management strategies Manifest : (say it) Conflict is enacted through communication. Interaction might involve cycles of escalation and de-escalation as various strategies are used.
