NWO Inc. contracts biologists throughout the year to collect data for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and . These positions are mandated by federal and state regulation and the data that is collected is utilized for resource management of commercial stocks in the North Pacific, Bering Sea and Pacific Islands. They are full-time, seasonal, field research positions. After you are selected as a candidate, you must successfully complete the 2 ~ 3 week certification-training course to be eligible for employment. NMFS/ADF&G have final approval for candidacy and deployment. The classes provide the necessary training and instruction.

Alaska Fishery Observer Program Depending on experience, for successful, contract completion you will be earning a total of $4,000+ ~ $5,000+/month ($130 ~ $180+/day). This figure does not include monies received for training, briefing, per diem, housing, travel expenses or allowed incidentals. If you are deployed more than 150 days in a calendar year, you will receive a bonus of $5 for each deployed day over 150 days. Pay for successful completion of training and deployment is $1,200.
