Karmen Stepp 12/13/2016 Virtual English 11, Red Day Lesson 3.2.11 Essay Draft Many authors love to write autobiographies because it gives them a chance to show the world who they really are as an individual and what they have dealt with in their lives through their work. Malala Yousafzai, Maya Angelou, Anne Frank, and many more are great examples of people who have written autobiographies that have changed the way people look at the world because of their life experiences they have chosen to write about. Two famous writers, Mark Twain and Fredrick Douglass, are among these autobiographers. Twain writes about his life as a young boy living on the Mississippi River, hoping to become a steamboat pilot while Douglass writes about his life as a former slave boy on Colonel Lloyd’s plantation. These are two stories that had an impact on the world, but achieved two different ways. Although Mark Twain and Fredrick Douglass both wrote autobiographies that persuaded their readers, their use of tone, subjective, and objective thoughts in their work, makes their styles very different.
