Worksheet #3 1. One of my best friends went through a very rough time suffering from depression following our high school graduation. It really took a toll on me seeing how much she changed in a short period of time. I think it was a natural impulse to want to fix or “rescue” her but I realized that all I could do was stay by her side and let her know that she wasn’t alone. 2. I would try to find the right time to talk to them to express my concern of their change in behavior and just try to be supportive and continue to let them know that they aren’t alone. Like Dr Edwin Felicaino referenced in his presentation its important to validate the persons feelings and approach them with empathy and reassurance. Resources I would refer to would be CAPS on campus or even a hotline if they would be more comfortable maybe talking to someone that they don’t know so they feel less afraid to be judged.
