F/A-18 Series Aircraft OBOGS Concentrator WBS
The following is a Work Breakdown Structure for the F/A-18 series aircraft life support system, particularly the Onboard
Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS). The OBOGS is the heart of the F/A-18 life support system, it provides clean breathable air to
the flight crew under normal operating conditions. Fifth stage bleed air is provided to the OBOGS via the aircraft Environmental
Control System (ECS). It passes through the OBOGS heater assembly to further condition the source air; it then passes through an
inlet filter assembly, consisting of both a liquid and particulate filter. From there, a pressure reducer regulates the air to an acceptable
50 to 54 psi. which is passed to the OBOGS rotary valve. The rotary valve pumps air into one molecular sieve bed, pressurizing it,
while simultaneously venting the other bed. While the air is under pressure inside a sieve bed a chemical reaction takes place,
