1.) What is the business strategy, info needs, IS & Org Changes, and Business Metrics for Western Digital’s IS initiative? The business strategy has been designed around the vigilant information system (VIS) which encompasses sensing and responding capabilities. The system works in conjunction with the “Observe, Orient, Decide and Act” (OODA) concept in order to gather information, detect problems, and take action in a much more efficient manner. In an industry where everything is constantly changing there needs to be changes within the companies that are supplying the technology. Therefore, the system was developed in which there would no longer need to be a constant search for information, but rather there would now be single alert notifications of status which were triggered by changes in data and would then be sent as alerts to the workers. Their plan was to make the data readily available to all the workers regardless if the person was in the factories or in corporate, by consolidating the data. In doing this
