Collier 1 India Collier Professor Dismukes English 102 12 August 2017 The story “Stepdaughters” it discuss how a stepfather(being the third one at that) is trying to connect and bond with his new stepdaughter. The story portrayed different sides of each character side. Is the stepdad trying to connect with his new stepdaughter? Is the stepdaughter trying to get close to her new stepfather, but afraid the previous stepfather didn't make an attempt? Is the mother trying to get close to her daughter because she may have felt like they weren’t close enough?. There are so many questions portraying this stepfather, the stepdaughter and the mother. The author’s age does affect the reader’s interpretation. The reader may get a little confused because how do they know the age of the stepfather. Since the age isn’t told in the story there could be any age man telling in the story. If it is a middle aged man or a much older man being represented in this story the reader’s may never know that. The age is important for stories like this because it really makes the story
