You have been tasked to design a network for a 100-user firm. Considering VOIP and the user community, would you assign Static, Dynamic (DHCP), or a combination of IP addresses? Explain. I would assign a combination of both static and dynamic addresses. A static IP address does not change. The network assigns Dynamic IP addresses and they can. There are definitely advantage and disadvantages for using either option. Static IP addresses are more difficult to setup than a dynamic address but are required for many common business needs such as email servers. VOIP setups use static IP for greater reliability. (Typically, remote desktops and VPNs do too) Static IP also comes in handy if the firm hosts their own website and they can reduce the risk of downtime that can occur when an IP address is
