Ghulam 1 Lina Ghulam Aliaa Sidawi English 109, University of Waterloo March, 15, 2017 New President, New Struggles Terrorism is the major cause of many wars and conflicts in our world, and terrorist are people who use unlawful violence against civilians, they can be from any nation/country, they don’t always represent a religion as the media convince us to believe. When Donald Trump became the president of the United State he decided to ban Muslims from entering his country in the name of “banning terrorists” but he did not consider the consequences of this decision. The countries banned were Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq, with dual nationals included in the ban. Donald Trump should have known that there are many ways of stopping terrorism. Blaming a race/religion and banning them from entering the United States is not a solution to this problem. President Donald Trump believes that this method would decrease terrorism in the United States but he didn’t consider the negative impact this ban can cause. This essay will focus on and argue how Trump’s tactic of solving terrorism is counterproductive. This ban will negatively impact civilians from the countries banned, it will encourage racism and segregation between religions and it will affect U.S. relationships with other countries.

Ghulam 2 First of all, this ban will negatively impact Syrians, Iranians, Sudanese, Libyans, Somalians, Yemenis and Iraqis Muslims who live in the United States. It will force people to leave their homes, jobs and now they have to find a new place to start everything again. In the article, the new underground railroad , Seidu Mohammed and Razak lyal had only $400 while they were escaping to find freedom (Markusoff, 22).
