Blasius 1 Kevin Blasius Mrs. Stilley English 210 4 March 2015 Artificial Intelligence The world becomes more technologically advanced every day. Telephones get smarter, televisions become more advanced, and cars park themselves and even drive themselves. With all the new technology people are exposed, people wonder when robots, or artificial intelligence, will be a part of peoples’ lives. Some people believe artificial intelligence is already around because robots have been programmed to answer people. Other people believe artificial intelligence is not present because the robot cannot feel emotions or ask ‘why,’ the brain of the robot is program based, and the robot cannot act on its own. In the present world computers must be programmed to act or speak to different phrases. The computer receives a message and picks the answer. The computer will not know what the question or answer means, it will only produce an answer, which is based on what the computer is programmed to do. A computer company, I.B.M., creates a robot which can answer basic questions (Searle 214). The robot is tested by playing on the game show Jeopardy (Searle 215).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
