Alexia Quiroga-Mata 5 May, 2017 Professor Peterson FCS 006 As a child, I was the average weight for my height and age. Once my teen years began to approach I began to lean more towards the heavier side of the scale. In high school, I participated in cheer and softball and that helped me get down to a healthy weight. Now, I don’t see my weight as unhealthy but according to my BMI I am overweight for my height and age. My BMI is 26.03, while it has been fluctuating the past couple of months I can’t seem to get down to a healthy weight. Even though I exercise five days a week I fall five to seven pounds short of my healthy weight. I exercise five days a week for at least an hour and on a good day maybe two hours, so I’m in the gym for 300 minutes a week at the least. I alternate my days with leg and arm workouts to cardio and ab workouts. Typically, when I work out my legs I use the Smiths machine and the cables. I do the typical squat and I find little ways to make it more challenging for myself. For arms, I go for light weights, usually the ten or fifteen pound dumbbells, and I do a variety of bicep and triceps workouts. I am not trying to gain muscle in my arms. The goal is to tone them out and lose my flab. My maximum sodium level of sodium intake is 2300 mg. Throughput the study I managed to stay within the given boundary except for the last day. On day 3 of the study I ate out twice, which led me to going over my max sodium level. My

sodium level for Day 1 was 2202, which was relatively high compared to Day 2 which was 834, both were within the limit I was awarded. However, Day 3 my sodium intake was 4453, which is well over my maximum recommended intake level. The foods that contributed to that total were a regular TOGO’S avocado and turkey sandwich (2510 mg) and a Chick-Fil-A spicy chicken wrap (1320 mg). My maximum daily intake for saturated fat is 325 grams. Over the course of the study my intake of saturated fats was Even prior to the study I tried my best to stay away from foods that were high in sugars. The only thing that I ate that was high in sugar was pink lemonade. Other than that, I realized I don’t eat much at all. I find myself with little to no time to eat throughout the day but the only bad part about that is that when I do get to eat I eat more than I should. During the study, I contained __ refined grains. The maximum intake should be three servings however my intake was ___. This ratio is good/bad for my diet because… I did not consume any alcohol throughout the study as I am under aged and it is illegal.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
