Groups and Teams What are the groups and why we use them in workplace o Teams - interdependent in regards to tasks, goals and rewards o Groups - embedded in larger social systems performing tasks that affect others o Key difference - team have interdependence because of common goal, mutual accountability, account of one another Team performance can be affected by a negative members Team development cycle - Forming- whose going to lead (find leader) Storming - Norming - settling find ground rules and accepting Performing - focus on the task and do the actions Adjourning - dissolving of group Why are some groups more successful than others Can be seen from the Group performance model o External condition - don't have influence of it o Member resources - the contribution of members, skills, experience, personality
