Review the various models of church polity. Which one do you believe is most biblical faithful? Provide supporting evidence for your belief. According to Akin (2014), the term “polity” refers to a church’s organization, how it is governed. A church’s polity answers questions such as who is a church member? , who settles controversies? , among many others. The first answer to the question of who should govern is “The Bishop/The Pastor.” Passages regarding church leaders in the New Testament speak to the idea of the pastor as the one who has authority over the church. The second answer to the question is “Plurality of Elders.” This is a group of multiple church elders as head over the church, governing and handling matters of disagreement. The third answer to the question is “Individual Christians.” These Christians came to see themselves as their own earthly authority.
