PHILOSOPHY 150 By: Omar Saleh Journal Assignment #2: Stoicism in Practice Practicing poverty has a great impact upon my daily living; coming from a life where driving to work and home, using my smartphone daily for homework and social media, and buying food from fast food places when I am in a rush. All of these norms that I have become accustomed to would be completely altered in living below my normal standard of living. However, by adopting this new standard I can understand the importance and quality of time and transportation, food and money, saving my earnings, as well as not allowing my cellphone to occupy my time. These practices overall would allow me to be thankful for the extravagant options I time and time again take advantage of without a second thought. Meditating on death has changed my perspective completely in the manner of which I live. Ensuring that those who I have in my life know they are loved and respected by me is extremely crucial in my daily dealings with them. I find myself having to know that no one is upset with me or has been hurt by me with my encounters; I hope that people remember me as a kind, fair, and just man that has done good by everyone. I would never want to leave this earth knowing that I have left someone hurt or harmed by me without forgiveness. With the thought of
