BODY FAT AND EATING DISORDERS 2 Body Fat and Eating Disorders That many risks associated with excess body fat. According to Mary B. Grosvenor Type 2 diabetes is one of the major problems linked to obesity. Type 2 diabetes is a disorder that causes excess sugar to the blood. (Mary B. Grosvenor) According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 29 Americans have diabetes, and one in four Americans don't know they have type 2 diabetes. Additionally, another 86 million people have high blood sugar levels placing them in high-risk to get type 2 diabetes. (Center for Disease Control) Five factors that influence obesity epidemic are culture eating habits, exercising less, unhealthy diet, food Portion sizes, social and economic issues.
