NURSING THEORIES Before the time of Florence Nightingale, nursing was considered to be a very low job in the social hierarchy. It was a job for the poor and those with no education, a job for desperate people Most of these nurses were women. They were of the lowest social standing, some were wayward women who choose nursing as an alternative to prison. Unmarried women who had no families also took this job.

NURSING THEORY According to Florence nursing is the act of utilizing the environment of a patient to assist in their recovery. Nursing has been revolutionized since she set up the first nursing school inn 1860. From a job for the uneducated it is now a profession. Factor for this change is mainly the desire to help the sick and responsibility. She stressed on clean air and proper sanitation to help patients back to full health
