ABSTRACT During the technical internship period we have to select a project and have to work on it. This project will help the student to understand the concept and importance of work. BHEL Bhopal manufactures the following components: Hydro Turbines , AC Motors and Alternators, Hydro Generators , Heat Exchangers , Excitation Control Equipment , Steam Turbines Transformer , Switchgear , On- Load Tap Changer , Large Current Rectifiers , Control & Relay Panels , Transportation Equipment , Oil Rigs , Fabrication Thermal Power Stations . All the components are mass manufactured. Design is the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object, system or measurable human. Technical design is made on different softwares and are made by qualified professional. Therefore altering the design is not possible and only thing an intern can do is watch and understand how its made and what are the factors considered in the simulation phase. Metal fabrication is the building of metal structures by cutting, bending, and assembling processes. It is a value added process that involves the construction of machines and structures from various raw materials. Block 2 of BHEL is Fabrication Department and under this department following fabrication processes are done both manually and automated machines are used to do so.

Marking, cutting, straightening, gas cutting, press, welding, Grinding, assembly, heat treatment, cleaning and shot blasting, machining, fabrication of pipe coolers, painting. However the processes mentioned above can be tweaked or altered to eliminate unnecessary loss of material manpower and time, also it can increase the efficiency of the production process. Therefore detail study and analysing of each processes is very important. The major goal of this project will be to study the designing phase and understanding the designing parameters considered and all the fabrication processes, their advantages and limitations, machines used in fabrication processes and to understand the principle behind them.
