Stevia – A Sugar Free Natural Sweetener Stevia Rebaudiana is a wild shrub that grows naturally in tropical and subtropical regions. It is part of the Chrysanthemum family and has been traced to South America. Different countries now transplant the herb for its various uses. However, it grows in the wild in Brazil and Paraguay. Countries such as Japan are well conversant with the herb and have employed its use for years. The importation of Stevia has had some revisions done by the FDA, it had been blocked in 1991 but this decision was revised in 1995 whereby Stevia was to be imported as a food supplement. Numerous tests continue to prove that Stevia is non-toxic. It does not harm the body by adding harmful toxins. In the year 2009, studies showed that stevosides and other properties present in Stevia are indeed very useful. They are helpful in cases of diarrhea, hypertension and hyperglycemia. They have anti-inflammatory properties and are good in preventing the formation of tumors.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
