Introduction In the 21 st century, people have become more conscious of what they consume. The health benefits of going organic seems to be high due to low levels of contaminants contained in organic foods compared to those grown using conventional methods. Potatoes are vegetables that are fairly easy to grow in non organic ways but growing potatoes using organic methods needs dedication and passion. Organic potatoes are fairly more expensive than non organic potatoes. This can be attributed to the fact that they require more input and dedication to nurture them to maturity. Different potatoes varieties have different flavors. This is largely dependent on the variety of potato. There are different kinds of varieties of potatoes that are being cultivated around the world. The potato variants have both strength and weaknesses in terms of cultivation and care. There is no single potato variant that is 100% perfect. Furthermore, the different potato variants have been observed to favor certain climatic conditions, soil type and resistance to either a pest or disease. This is not meant to discourage people not to try out other cultivars of potatoes. In controlled environments like the green houses, any variety can be cultivated.
