R-410A Contaminant Control Slide 33: R410A is never to be used as a retrofit! The system and compressor must be designed to handle the high pressure. Carrier has been a large customer of our ZP scroll. The “P” is the only compressor that should be used for this refrigerant. It has been designed with a thicker top cap, higher setting on the IPR, a smaller scroll set for the more efficient refrigerant and smaller counterweights on the motor. The shell is also thicker than other scrolls. Slide 34: Safety features that you could find in the air conditioning scroll under 7 ton could be: (1) The TOD-temperature operated disc, this is a bimetallic disc that senses the discharge temperature and bows at approximately 270*F. When it bows, the channel opens to blow the hot gas down on top of the motor protector which will trip the compressor off line. (2) The IPR-Internal pressure relief valve, this lifts at approximately 400 +/-50 pounds differential. This means that if the Discharge pressure is greater than suction by this much, the IPR will lift and relieve the gas on top of the motor protector.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
