LaKisha Moore Identify and describe the specific issues Maalick encountered in the workplace. Do the actions of other workers at Treton represent discrimination and harassment? What elements of law are important for Treton to consider? Maalick is experiencing discrimination and harassment in the workplace. He has been a victim of religious discrimination from his coworkers. They have left dolls with pins sticking out of its body. There were incense and witch hats left in his office. There was a picture of Africa that was decorated with strange letterings and symbols. Maalick received notes that were left on his desk and on his car about black cats, black magic, requests for palm readings and notes about the disappearance of MarShawn DeMur. He is the victim of harassment from his coworkers and Jenkins, his supervisor, who made comments and asked questions concerning his religious preference. The actions of the other workers represented discrimination and harassment. The supervisor and coworkers made a distinction between him out from all the other employees and proceeded to make unfriendly comments about his religion preference. It was harassment because of the comments that were made toward Maalick and his religion. Treton needs to consider the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which “prohibits employers from basing employment decisions on a person’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.” 2. Evaluate the actions of the HR director, Marta Ford, in response to Maalick’s situation. What could she have done to prevent the situation and what more could she do to ensure that this type of situation would not occur in the future?

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
