Ubicación Geográfica. Los   triquis   son un   pueblo ind í gena   que se sit ú an al  noroeste del   Estado   de Oxaca,   M é xico, formando una isla cultural en medio del vasto territorio mixteco.   El nexo  principal es su lengua, a su vez, cada variante ling üí stico hace la diferencia y pertenencia a cada uno de  los   Xumanh-an   o   Chuman' a . Tambi é n los huipiles rojos y sus creencias religiosas los unen, pues todos practican  la religi ó n tradicional triqui junto con la religi ó n cat ó lica. La regi ó n triqui se localiza al noroeste de la capital de Oaxaca, en la regi ó n conocida como “nudo mixteco” por su car á cter accidental, en la confluencia de la Sierra Madre Oriental y la Sierra Madre Occidental. La regi ó n triqui comprende dos subregiones o zonas, una zona baja o la subregi
