Point out four things from the time of World War II that especially interest you. Up until 1940, there was a well-established Nazi party operating in the United States. Among the supporters, Henry Ford, was one of the most notable members. He financially backed the party and Hitler himself with several million dollars. This of course ceased when the US become more involved in the war, especially after Pearl Harbour. There is only one known recording of Adolph Hitler talking personally to someone using a conversational tone (In a non-prepared speech). It is the Mannerheim Tapes, secretly recorded by the Finnish army during 1942. These tapes were kept secret until the 1950s when the threat of destruction had passed. Many historians refuse to accept the existence of the recordings, as some believe it paints an alternative view of the war and Hitler. Nickel was so valuable in the United States that the metal was actually removed from the 5-cent piece during the war. It was substituted with silver, which was considered less valuable for war. If you happen to find a nickel minted between 1942 and 1945, it most likely contains 35% silver content, which is worth anywhere between $1 and $2 depending on market prices. Pennies in Canada and the United States were also stripped of their copper content and replaced with galvanized steel. There was one incident of chemical warfare being used during WW2. The US military had brought canisters of Mustard Gas into the Italian port of Bari “Just in case” of chemical warfare against Germany. The German Luftwaffe bombed these ships, letting loose the chemical cargo stores. A total of 27 cargo ships were lost and over 2,000 military & civilian casualties resulted. It is unknown just how many people died from the release of chemicals versus how many died from explosions. As you have learned, wars don’t happen overnight. There are situations, conflicts, and interests present before the conflict breaks out. Describe the economic, social, and political situation of the citizens of Germany and Italy before World War II. GERMANY: The German economy suffered severe setbacks after the end of World War I, partly because of reparations payments required under the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. The government printed money to make the payments and to repay the country's war debt; the resulting hyperinflation led to inflated prices for consumer goods, economic chaos, and food riots.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
