4. Should employees be allowed to use company e-mail systems to discuss common work related concerns pertaining to their wages, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment? How about to discuss unionizing? If not, what types of restrictions should companies be allowed to place on the use of their e-mail systems? The textbook states, “It is well established in labor law that employees do not have a statutory right to use their employer’s equipment for union organizing or other Section 7 rights.”[Bud135]. Although it states this, I do believe that employees should be allowed to use the company e-mail systems to discuss wages, benefits, employment conditions, and unionizing. The use of the e- mail systems should be used as long as it is not causing any disruptive behavior. Ultimately, it should be left up to each employer if they want to allow their employees to use the e-mail systems for these purposes. Some companies may have valid reasons for not wanting their employees to use the e-mail system, and as long as they are valid reasons I can respect that.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
