1. What are the sources of risks faced by the global supply chain? 2. How can companies mitigate these risks? Class, The world keeps changing. As these changes happen, global supply chains must re-evaluate how they do business. In addition, they must prepare for a large variety of risks that could cause a disruption in service. Many companies are finding that they must re-organize their global networks annually (Handfield, 2012). There are many risks associated with a global supply chain. Some of them are the same as a domestic chain, but others exist in the global market alone. Some of these risks can be controlled to an extent. For example, forecasting accuracy, execution of plans, and supplier performances all have a measure of control to them (Simchi-Levi, 2007). They are also known risks that can be mitigated through proper planning. However, there are other risks that just occur. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions can disrupt business. These risks are difficult to prepare for,
