What historical incident is narrated in the poem? - The historical incident narrated in the poem is the assassination of Ninoy Aquino on August 21, 1983 in NAIA. 2. What images does the author present on the event? - “With his one foot, Raised in air-poised Like an inverted, Benediction” describes Ninoy leaving the airplane, and the meaning of benediction is given to a sick person before his death. While in the line “Like an inverted” , describes priests taking their vow as they lay in front of a cross like an inverted cross represents the way Ninoy would fall. In the line “But nothing, nothing was to come out of this, neither blessing nor returning. As sun touch his crown. It knew.” says that Ninoy was warned not to come back for the reason that his life would be in threat. In the last line of the poem that states that
