The PBS Frontline documentaries, Merchants of Cool and Generation Like examines how media companies controls teen culture and Weber saw a link to Orwell’s message about the ability of language to control and influence which opens the students’ eye. This paper aims to explore the themes and provide a clear discussion that is important in comprehending the development of media and communication as portrayed in the PBS Frontline documentaries, Merchants of Cool and Generation Like. In this video the author and FRONTLINE correspondent Douglas Rushkoff finds out how the repeated teen quest for connection and identity has moved to social media. The kids are spending more time in digital spaces that they don’t have basic concept of what they are, what are they for and where they tilted which is a problem brought by the companies doing the kids through technology. The subject was different in the year 2001 where the MTV was the powerful giant growing rich and exploiting the kids and desire to be cool. Corporations were going after kids
