HW #7, due M, 11/13 Problem 1 P291-293 6.18 (Lab 6-2) Problem 2 You are performing a hypothesis test: 60 : 60 : < µ µ A O H H You are to take a sample of 49 normally distributed observations and will assume the population standard deviation x σ = 5.6. (a) Discuss the power of the test at α = 10%. To do this compare and contrast the scenarios where the true x µ = 58.5 and when x µ = 57. (b) Discuss the power of the test at α = 1%. To do this compare and contrast the scenarios where the true x µ = 58.5 and when x µ = 57. (c) Make a generalized summary of what happens to Type I and Type II errors in each scenario. (d) Summarize power of test (inverse of probability of Type II error) at α = 10% starting from x µ = 59.5; creating a table decrementing by 0.25 until power of test has exceeded 0.99. Problem 3 A warship is patrolling along the coast. Suddenly an unidentified aircraft appears on the radar screen but the computer system is unable to tell whether it is a friend or a foe.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
